      ARISTOTLE IN ASSOS : 348-345 BC

       The great philosopher Aristotle have lived for 2 years in ancient city of Assos where  is only 25 km far away from Babakale.

        Aristotle accepted the ruler Hermias' of Assos invitation. He founded a philosophy school and gethered a group of philosopher in Assos. He got married  the niece and adopted daughter of Hermias and got a daughter in Assos. You can see now Assos and ruins of philosophy school and walk  in the ancient streets in which Aristotle and his wife Pythias walk hand by hand .... (Click here for details)

        THE BATTLE OF GRANICOS (GRANIKOS) : 334 BC

         The Granicos Battle between Alexander The Great and Persian King  Darius III is an  important event in history. Now you can see the River of Granicos (Today KOCABAS river ) and the area of the battle (Near BIGA town) only 150 km far away from Babakale. (Click here for details)

       THE MISSIONARY JOURNEYS OF PAUL TO TROAS AND ASSOS
       50-54  AND 54-58 AD      

     Both in his 2nd  and 3rd missionary journeys, St (Apostle) Paul came to Alexandria Troas (30 km far away from Babakale). And also he stayed in Assos (25 km far away from Babakale) for a while in his 3rd missionary journey. Now you can see the ruins in good conditions both Troas and Assos  You can also walk the ancient roads where St Paul walked. (Click here for details)
