The Torch of Peace
It doesn't fade out the torch of the peace and friendseep.Every
year in August 10th,It is arranged a feast about
friendsheep and peace between Greek and Turkish people . It
is 2 times realized with the help of the Municipality of
Çanakkale. |
Halay |

The Major of Kalloni
joined first Lekton Peace Feast.Greek People from
Mitilini comes from the other side of the sea
for this feast. 2 People gathers in historical castle
of Babakale.They listen the musics from each side,speak
peacemaker speech. Greek and Turkish People danced first
Halay and than Sirtaki together.They lit peace torch between
Mitilini and Babakale
on the each seaside.(click

Actualy Greek and Turkish are looking like in many way
to each others.If you visit Greece and Turkey You can see
taht many things are the same.Climate,flora,life style,meals,drinks
like raki and ouzo,the face and appearance of people,hospitable
of them and ext.It depends on living together for thousands
of years in the same lands of Lykia,Karia,Mysia of Anatolia.If
you listen an old Aegean people they tell you that
they were living together in peace at one time.Many Turkish
people thinks that the politicians of each country
creat enmity artificially. |

In the
other hand ,The Municipality of Kalloni from Mitilini
invited the Mukhtar of Babakale and some administrators from
the Municipality of Çanakkale.Turkish delegation went there
in 2001 Summer .They joined many meeting with the Greek
Administrators from Mitilini.They agreed that The relations
about friendship and peace between Greeks and Turks must be
developed in every year. |

Some old people from Babakale tells interesting story. Once
upon a time,some Babakale villagers go to Molivos and buy
and put together trousseau from Molivos,When they get
their daughters and sons married.Why doesn't this
event become active again. There are only 5 miles between
Babakale and Molivos. . |
